Business Units within the UEL Corporate Management
The current business units that will make up UEL Group are profiled as follows.
UEL Shop
The UEL Shop currently is the only directly control business arm of UEL that provides the cashflow and the starting point for the UEL Group.
This shop is operated by a 15 staff running two shifts per day, seven days a week. The current turnover is at K50,000 per week.
To increase on sales and grow, there is need to for new and bigger shop to established with the Campus.
UDC
The UDC is long established business arm of the University in coordinating the provision of training and consultancy services to the external market. The UDC also has a portfolio of properties that it manages.
Over the years, the UDC has remained stagnant and regressed to a greater extent.
With the UEL structure in place, UDC will come under the UEL corporate management framework revive its core business of Training and Consultancy.
NATSL
NATSL is another long-established business which has enjoyed some of its best days. This not to say, the demand for its biological and chemical testing and analytical services to the industry and government is not there anymore. The demand NATSL’s services acerbated by the development in internet space the world has become much smaller and the scrutiny on industries and regulation compliance is critical business risk.
UEL Catering Services
As per a strategic direction by the University, the Unitech is now managing the mess in house through the Unitech Catering Services. This important service at the University will now further come under the management of UEL as UEL Catering Services.
As UEL Catering Services, the catering services will explore opportunities in the town catering services to large gathering, conferences, weddings parties, corporate parties and others.
