Aiyura National High School - Kainantu, Papua New Guinea

Aiyura National High School was established in 1976 a year after Papua New Guinea got its Independence. The Valley in which this great school is currently situated, used to be a cattle farm owned by the then Department of Primary Industry.
Even long before the setup of the DPI station, Aiyura Valley was the home of the Aiyura Agricultural Research Station, which was operated originally as the “Highlands Agricultural Experiment Station” that had begun in 1936 by Mr. Bill Brechin, an Australian Agriculturist.
Today the whole area is known as the Aiyura Valley of the Eastern Highlands Province home to the Gadsup and the Tairora tribes. We have several institutions within the valley that includes the NARI, Fisheries, CIC, CRI, SIL, Aircraft Engineering School and the Airstrip IATA code

Since its inception, Aiyura has been contributing in nation building by educating young Papua New Guineans who later in life become National leaders and many more others who end up in various fields contributing to the work force of this country.
